The 7th Annual “Westchase Cup” Golf Outing was held on April 10th at Westchase Golf Course to benefit recipients of the Westchase Charitable Foundation (WCF).

“For the first time ever, we had a sold out golf tournament,” said Sean O’Donnell, President, WCF. It could not have been a better day for golfing. The weather was terrific, all golfers received a new pair of golf shoes prior to play, the putting contest was staffed by the Wing House girls and there were many on course vendors with food and beverages. Although no one won, the ultimate chance of the day which was a $25,000 prize for a hole-in-one.

Congratulations to the foursome who represented Wellspring Church who took home the Westchase Cup!

At the awards dinner, Ahmed Bhutta, WCF Treasurer, had the honor of introducing Jim Mininno (resident of Odessa) and Rafael Marrero (resident of Citrus Park), both families are recent recipients of the Foundation. The Mininno’s have a daughter currently battling neuroblastoma. The Marrero family has two daughters suffering from a rare immune deficiency which forces them to spend a lot of time away from Tampa at John Hopkins in Baltimore.

Don Germaise, of ABC Action News, graciously returned for the third year in a row as the emcee for the awards dinner. “Don again did a great job getting the crowd involved with the live auction and the 50/50 raffle. We truly appreciate all his support and the media coverage he has given us over the years,” said Craig Gordon, WCF Golf committee chair.
